It's a Mastodon client. It has many neat features. I like it on desktop because it's easy to navigate with my keyboard. It's also great on phone. Overall pleasant, Mastodon users should try it out. But I feel like describing it at length is not really productive - it's a user interface.
It's a nice user interface, made by @[email protected], and loved by a lot of people.
If you don't want to trust people with your account details that's fine - then using a third party app is probably not for you, unless you're willing to either trust people or dig into the source code.
I’m not giving access to my Mastodon account to some random service I’ve never heard of for no reason.
If it makes you feel better, it’s all client-side: there’s nothing executing on the server (I’m running a copy of it on a server that just… can’t execute anything) so it’s not doing any data stealing.
Buuut, since it’s trivial to host, you could grab a copy of the code and host it yourself as well.
@liaizon@mesamunefire@phanpy it really is. I love the catch up feature too for times where I feel behind on everything in my feed. I usually start the morning with catch up from the past few hours and it's really helpful. I've also tried probably every Mastodon app and after each time I always come back to Phanpy. It's too good. I do wish there was a setting to display likes and repost counts below posts in the feed however. Would make it even better.
Works great with Akkoma as well.
I 2nd that!
Easily the best client
Always liked Phanpy
Donphan is legit, too.
OK. There’s absolutely no information about it?
E: This is the proper way to share something like this
If you have Mastodon you can just try it?

I don’t need length. Any sort of description at all would be helpful.

Ive tried many different third-party apps. Because they give me a reason to.
That's great!

LOL people around here truly do be delusional.
github.com/cheeaun/phanpy?tab=readme-ov-file#easy…
It’s fairly literally just a download-and-run kind of deal it seems. Does seem pretty trivial.
It’s not just for mastodon users, that’s selling it short
Let me Google that for you.
Google away, my guy 🤷
@mesamunefire lovely to see @phanpy get a new round of excitement, its really one of the best interfaces to "social media" on that I have ever used...

They'd get busy: The creator of Phanphy also maintains a list of github repos named after Pokemon.
Repokémon is an amazing name.
