After reading this and trying to get snac2 working, I tried GoToSocial. worked out well so thought I would come back here.
It's a bit confusing at first that it comes with a read only web-interface, but once you got a Mastodon app or an frontend like Phanpy set up with it, it works quite well.
I've been enjoying it. It's a really small alternative to mastodon on a home server. It doesn't use up nearly as much data/though put as mastodon.
